If you are buying electronic gadgets for the holidays don’t buy them more than two weeks ahead of time and leave them in the box. When you finally give them as gifts they might not work and might be out of warranty. Broken power buttons, screens and keyboards are uncommon, but do happen. Also you don’t want to start a computer only to find that it has a bad hard drive. Giving your gift a quick once over is good enough and then you put it back in the box. Better still would be to fully set up a gift PC and then your giftee will immediately be able to use it when the open their present.
